Dr Xolani Humphrey Mkhwanazi

Dr Mkhwanazi is an internationally experienced executive, currently serving on a number of boards – including South32 (formerly known as BHP Billiton) and The Central Energy Fund. He is able to contribute imaginatively and innovatively to the development and sustainability of a business using his extensive executive leadership, business and technical experience in the energy, mining and public sectors. He was previously CEO of the National Electricity Regulator of South Africa where he was responsible for rebuilding the organisation into a world-class regulatory authority. His knowledge and understanding of public policy and current government priorities, coupled with sound networks in both the public and private sectors, sets him apart.


Yvan Eriau

Yvan, a non-executive director of Gibela and the Managing Director of Alstom Transport Southern Africa (ATSA), is a veteran of the transport sector with 34 years of senior executive experience. He was closely involved in the PRASA renewal tender and the establishment of the Gibela Rail Transport Consortium. Prior to his appointment at ATSA he was the Train Life Services Operations Vice President for France and Asia Pacific. Yvan has extensive experience in strategy, business development and modelling.


Mzi Dayimani

Mzi is General Counsel at the National Empowerment Fund. An admitted attorney and Notary Public (South Africa), he has and spent six years with attorneys Cliffe Dekker Inc. Mzi joined the NEF in March 2008 as a legal advisor. He was promoted to Senior Legal Advisor and later Manager in the CEO's office before assuming his current position as General Counsel in March 2011.

Mzi has a strong corporate and commercial finance background, having specialised in banking, finance and regulatory law. Mzi was on the team that provided legal advice on aspects of the BEE Codes of Good Practice. He spent time as a debt capital markets lawyer and was seconded to the Bond Exchange of South Africa in 2006. In his present role, Mzi oversees a number of NEF departments and is responsible for compliance and certain administrative aspects in the office of the CEO.
