Construction sector workshop

The Gibela Rail Transport Consortium RF (Pty) Ltd will manufacture and deliver 600 passenger trains to the Passenger Rail Agency of South Africa (PRASA) over the next 10 years.

It is Gibela’s strategic mandate and intent to localise with a view to reaching 70% local content once the manufacturing programme for the new PRASA trains has reached a stable pace. Critical to fulfilling local content commitments is the construction of a new modern manufacturing facility and the ancillary supplier business park in the area of , in Nigel, Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality. Consequently, Gibela invites construction companies to pre-register their details prior to a sector-specific workshop scheduled for Tuesday, 28 July 2015. Construction companies owned by black women, youth, as well as those classified as small -and medium-sized, are particularly encouraged to attend.

Participants must note that this engagement is not part of a pre-tender qualification process but rather an interaction that will allow Gibela to engage with the construction sector in an open and transparent manner ahead of the start of the works in .
